Okay, I need some machining help here....

I cannot get myself to spend $ 60 USD landed for an EGW (Evolution Gun Works) tactical picatinny base for my Rem M7615P Pump .223 rifle. So I bought a Weaver ONE piece base # 93. That's where I discovered that the short 2 x 6 x 32mm scope tube is too short to fit on the ONLY 2 slots machined into this aluminum base. I would like to have a bunch more slots machined along the base.

Anybody out there skilled enough to do this for me? Any hobby machinists out there? Here's the rub.... this base only costs $ 8.00 from Wholesale Sports, so I don't worry too much.

Suggestions ? Hey, I can even trade M14 tweaks for this machine work... ;)

Cheers all,
Barney

How about fine hacksaw blades 2or 3 -what ever you need for proper width
and a square and just cut them in- a blk marker will work to coverup the white metal, you could also try a good file on edge, course a mill would work.:p

Thanks everyone... a CGNutter here has offered to do the cuts on this piece of aluminum.

Just for kicks and giggles, I did think about using a new file from Home Depot to do some cuts, but I will likely end up with cuts that are not perpendicular (depending on how many bzzrs I've had to drink). :D

Cheers all,

Is it supposed to look

Something like this?

I went and made a jig to hold it in the mill, then I did some calculations. It turns-out that with the right offset, this Weaver rail can be made into a continuous piece of picatinny rail. I sandblasted it and will Duracoat it later this weekend.

If anyone's interested in doing the same, I have no use for the jig anymore.
