I didn't say foods don't go bad. I said, or rather should have been slightly more specific and said, foods don't have expiry dates.

Best before is not an expiry and in reality really doesn't mean much at all. People throw out all manner of perfectly good foods because of some random date marked on them .... which the food companies just love. 🤷‍♂️
I think what you are going for here is that most food don't have an "Expiry" date. They have a "Best Before" date. That is the time at which the powers that be have determined that the foods will begin to lose some of their nutritional value, not the date at which they go bad. "Best Before" dates are a quality, not a safety date - and should be treated as such.
