Made in Canada .22 (pics)

I just picked up a minty 64B and the stock does look a little dowdy. I am a linspeed fan but in this case I would go for something a little more glossy too. I NEVER sand anything that has had finish on it already unless I am starting at 400. Usually I just burnish it a bit with some finish and some 0000 steel wool too. Should need nothing more. I make a rubbing varnish of my own using a 50/50 cut of a decent varnish and Danish oil or Minwax then wax it with a good paste wax. They sure can look nice. Mebbe I should do some for mine too. Hmmmm.

Don't worry, it was a very very light sanding and mostly in areas that had imperfections such as the groove that holds the action behind the bolt where it is visible. The factory made it very rough and uneven.

I refinished 3 of the stocks on my 5 Cooey 64s also. I guess in different years, they used wood that was the cheapest and most available. All 3 turned out to be different colours. They turned out decent but I prefer "blondes".

Great looking rifles guys.

These are my two bolts that had a visit from the sandpaper. It wasn't light either. :p

Score 1 (more) for the boys and girls in Lakefield.
Keep up the good work.

Now I'm homesick again...

I bought a Mark II a few years ago just because it was a Lakefield made gun. A little piece of home that I can plink with.
