Made in Canada Rimfires ??

The Cooey Model 71 was basically a Made In Canada copy of the Winchester Model 70. Most definitely center fire!:)

Either way, I still love my Cooeys! Probably the one gun I shoot the most is an old single shot Model 39, despite a safe full of AR-15s, Remington 700s, Ruger 10/22s and even a SIG CQB/PE-90 or two!:) Go figure, eh?:)

As I stated Cooey did not make any centre fire rifles for production. The models refered to were only brought out after Cooey sold to winchester and as allready stated they were clones of the winchester model 70. If you look on the gun it should say COOEY and somewere winchester. Any of you guys want the history book by John Belton they are on Ebay most of the time------Cowboy

I had a 22 mag along time back now and it shot great, but I sold it because the magazine was giving me some feeding problems, and my Friend was hounding me to sell it to him before he moved to Ontario, so I did, I miss that thing.
Anyhow the rifle was made in Canada, somewhere in Ontario I remember, it was marked "GLOBAL" as a brand name, for reason I think I remember seeing CIL on it or else that was the ammo I was running through it, it's been a while. I supppose I could email M.B. and find out again, but I have never seen or heard of another since.
I recently came across a Cooey 600 tube feeding bolt repeater, the thing shots great, the other is a Winchester Model 69A fairly old one too, but I don't think it was made in Canada back then.

Still looking for a receiver sight and a mag for the 69A, if anyone knows of something that will work for open sights for it, please let me know. There is no rear dovetail on the barrel, only on the front, which is empty also.

Yeah they made 308 and 30-06 as well. Don't remeber model numbers but can get them once at home.
I believe these were Winchester manufactured , at least as was stated, a Winchester pattern.
I found them to be pretty well made...

I believe that the true Cooey was centered around the .22 or Shotgun market. As for the Centerfire line, the reciever would have been stamped "Cooey Model 71 made in Cobourg, Ont. by

Winchester - Western":D

That's what was on my Mod 71 in .270 Win.

I gotta get that book!
