The other thing is which price more closely reflects the market? I can get a remington express for $400-500ish, with 2 standard length barrels in just about any shop. A 12.5" or 8" barrel takes what, 1/4 less metal than I'd get with the Express combo? I think a $500 premium for a shorter metal tube might be milking us a bit, so I lean toward whoever has more realistic pricing, in tune with the market.
The quality of goods made in China has improved exponentially over the last 10-15 years, but if you insist on avoiding all Chinese goods, the choice is yours... Walmart, Canadian Tire, Costco, most clothing stores, and most electronics are now off limits.
Where a more locally made product can compete is with better service, but that goes out the window when pricing makes it logical to buy 2 of the imported items for less than one of the local, and the importer is know to provide customer service at a similar standard.
