Made in China!!!

I actually have had a Leupold for 15 years that has never once let me down ... year after year after year doing a fantastic job for me %100 dependable ... every single fish I ever bonked with it dies right away ! ill never get rid of that scope !

I mean ... where can you get a fish bonker with a life time guarantee ? Second to none ! Top shelf !

Isnt the glass the heart of any optics system? That's a pretty important part to scrimp on.

Getting the glass from outside N.America doesn't necessarily mean they are scrimping on it. Several European lens makers are still top rank and some excellent glass is made in Japan.

China has some of the most advanced manufacturing facilities on the planet. Thinking otherwise is just ignorance. Personally I would take a product manufactured by a premium manufacturer in China over one in the USA. Unions and a poor QC have ruined Americas manufacturing reputation, even within their top brand names.

If you want to ditch your Leupolds because they are made in China, I am sure there are many here willing to scoop them up ;)

Tell your friends ... I have a nice one on EE right now , Ive hardly bonked any fish with it

I guess the trick is to figure out which manufactures still have a high quality standard..and lower price if made in China

The only company that cut, grind and polish their own glass is USOPTICS, the rest are all outsource. so its a question of the product line you choose from these companies, Speaking of Vortex, their Razor Lines are made in Japan, and the glass reminds of the Good old Japanese Tasco . I had the chance to compare their Razor 1-6x24 to PST, and you can tell the big difference on the glass, but again the price is another story.

If cost was cheap, it will be cheap. It's the way it is.....

I was so impressed with sightron optics, if I am getting any other quality optics, they will be sightron.

I got their S3 8-32x56 mildot/CM scope and 10x42 LR binos, they are AWESOME compared to anything I have looked through.
(never tried 1k+ scopes anyway)
