Made in Japan Tasco scopes???

I realize Tasco scopes are not exactly quality scopes but i have heard the older made in Japan scopes by Tasco are much better quality. Is this true? How much better are they. Are they descent? i have two of the older made in japan scopes and an curious about them. One is 4x and the other is 4-16.

I have one 1.75-5x20 probably 15 years old. I had it on 7rem mag and 7mauser. Now it is sitting on win 94 in 30-30. Never had any problem with it. I think that they are of decent quality.

River Rat has had one, a 3-9X40 World Class, on his 358 Norma Mag for over 20 years.

If it glows in the dark - Japanese, cannot see sh*t with light - Chinese...

Got the same scope on my 30-30.

It is good quality.

I have had Tasco's on and off for over 35 years. I remember when the World class first hit the shelves I believe in early mid 80s. I bought a 2X-7X-32(little pronhorn on its turret..lol), my buddy the 3X-9X-40(Whitetail buck on the turret, thought they got the power range/game referance wrong but anyhow.....).

I felt they where somewhere betwen the Bushnell Banners and the Scopechiefs of the day and these were reliable bright scopes as well. I'd say the old World class were equivalent to todays Bushnell 3200 maybe down a little.
I just sold mine last year on a H&R 700. Had it on many rifles over the years(25+) and it still hadn't fogged or had zeroing/ recticle issues.

Todays Tasco line-up does not impress at all.
