After being inspired from a thread on another site I decided to try my hand and making a set of grips for my Norinco 1911. I bought a set of maple burl scales from eBay, downloaded the instructions from here (h ttp://www.1911pistolgrips.com/process.php) and went for it. Even though I am all thumbs I think they turned out pretty well. I have a set of slimline grip bushing and hex head screw coming from Brownells to complete the look but wanted to post a few pics. Anyone else ever try making their own? If I can do it then anyone can!

COOL. I have thought about this, I am a woodworker. I have a really nice piece of Brazilain Rosewood, but it would only be big enough for one grip scale, because I used most of it to make knife scales. :( I would like to try checkering too, if I ever make my own grips.
