Made up an 8x57 cartridge holder.

Got a few hours over the last week to play with some leatherwork. Needed a cartridge holder for packing around an extra stripper clip of 8mm mauser.

First step was to grind out some tapered forms to wet form the veg tan (9oz in this case as that is what was on hand).

Step 2 was to wet form the leather on the forms and leave to dry for 24 hrs

Step 3 was to cut out the back piece which included the fold-over closure, glue, trim, set hardware, and groove for stitching

Final step was to dye, burnish edges, and stitch. A bit of time working in some leather conditioner and this one is ready to use.

If one offered something like that sans the stripper clip option, it would probably be a good seller here on CGN. One size for 30-06 and another for 308ish cartridges.

There would have to be some sort of mechanism to control the cases tapping up against each other and making too much noise. Some sort of partition system. I'd take one with my initials on it.

Thanks again to everybody - not making these for sale but may at some point down the road. I am unsure of what the rules would be on the forums here for something like that. Would have to ask a mod if it's cool to make stuff like this and put it up in the EE without a business membership (which isn't feasible money wise for a guy just making a few things here and there).

This one took about 7-8 hours to finish - but it always takes more time to make the first one of anything.
