Does anyone know the legal limit for mag capacity on .22 rifles? My Cooey is tube fed which I am pretty sure doesn't have a limit. What about mag fed .22s like the Ruger 10/22? A guy just sold one on EE with a 50 round mag. Is that legal or just pinned?

TIA

Q. What is the maximum number of cartridges that a firearm magazine can legally hold?

As set out in Criminal Code Regulations, some large-capacity magazines are prohibited regardless of the class of firearm to which the magazines are attached. As a general rule, the maximum magazine capacity is:

5 cartridges for most magazines designed for a semi-automatic centre-fire long gun; or
10 cartridges for most handgun magazines
A large-capacity magazine is not prohibited if it has been permanently altered so that it cannot hold more than the number of cartridges allowed by law. Acceptable ways to alter a magazine are set out in the regulations.

There is no limit to the magazine capacity for semi-automatic rim-fire long guns, or for other long guns that are not semi-automatics.

There is no legal limit for rimfires, however there are limits imposed by physics, The spring length needed to feed 30-50 rounds of rimfire ammunition at some point imposes such force that the friction between the cartridges and feed lips will be too great.

are the large capacity mags meant for 10/22s allowed on a charger? pistol mags are restricted to 10 right? but since the large capacity mags are meant for the 10/22, theyre allowed with the charger right?
not that i'd ever get a charger. i think theyre ugly.
