I know Alberta tactical and V Bull and Wolverine offer a mag conversion. What I am trying to find out is which one is the best taking into consideration I don't want to lose any C.O.A.L. Then availability(mags) and cost falling in that order. Also I have heard that there is a "tool" that you can use to measure the chamber and throat to get your max. C.O.A.L. I would like to seat my rounds .010+or- off the lands. Any suggestions would be great. But please don't tell me to put a round in the casing and have the lands push the bullet into the casing to measure C.O.A.L. I am simply trying to perfect what I do. Thanks

If you don't want to use a fired case and a bullet that you have on hand to check your OAL, you can always spend some money and have a cerrosafe mold of your chamber and throat made up.

Using a fired case and the bullets I have on hand seem to have worked for me so far but I obviously haven't perfected what I have been doing.

I've been pondering the same idea. I talked to my gunsmith who has installed a few different brands. He claims the best to install was the unit by H.S. Precision - it just fits right in and works. The other brands required some work to the action to install and make operational. ### has one on for sale - pricey little items. Floor plate and 5 shot mag is about $475.00 and the 10 shot mag is $200.00. Unless your using it for a competition where time and reloading is a factor ---- Well, I cant justify that. I plan on using Bergers ( mostly single shot) but may have to go to Sierras if I want to load the internal mag. More experimenting I guess

I bucked up and put an HS precision mag kit into my Rem 700 SA. I LOVE IT!!! Best money I spent, and yes it is a pricey bit of kit. I've never been a big fan of the floor plate design. The smooth loading action alone is worth what I paid!
