Mag extention longer than barrel. Can I shot buckshot?

Can you tell me if I can shot securely buckshot with my new setup? Should I expect problem or damage? I'm already looking for a shorter mag extention but until that can I shot with it?

Magazine tubes that extend past the barrel have become the norm in competition shotgunning.

I've done it to my #1 870 just because I hate having to reload so often so now it's a 9+1 18.5".

Just get a mag fed gun and stick a 10 or 12 shot drum on there, done and done.
