Wondering if anyone who has removed the front sight on their 15" Mag Fed Grizz could offer any tips/tricks to make it easier? I am about to try and remove mine, so any help would be appreciated.

Cheers!

Ok, so no response on the "who has done it approach" :p

I figure I will just throw out a "help me" type update and add some pictures.

Here it is; I am looking to install my S&J CQB MkIV adaptor on my 15" Grizzly Mag fed, problem is the rail clamp lines up exactly where the front sight is. Obviously this is not going to work, so I have to remove the front sight.

I am not too handy when it comes to gunsmithing, so I am really hoping I can find someone who knows their s**t to give me a hand so I don't pooch my barrel while trying to get this done :redface:

Here are a couple more pics showing the front sight a little closer...

Gonna wait a couple days to see if I can get some help here, then I figure I'll just start in with the dremel :eek: If you can help, let me know; I'd much appreciate it! Thank you.

The barrel lug/sight looks like it's pinned on. If you cut enough of the sight away to mount the clamp the rest of it, including the barrel lug, might just fall off.

I can't tell from the picture of the rail clamp, but is it possible to slide it back enough to clear the front sight?

No the back end of the rail bolts to the top of his messa stock adapter
Why not just cut it off and use a mag clamp to hold the barrel to the tube

I figured I'd update this thread for anyone else who is looking to do a similar project.

I ended up removing the front sight by punching out the lower pin and then simply (with a little help from a hammer and vise) slid the front sight off. I used my dremel and cut off the front sight portion of the part, and then used a grinding bit to tidy things up. A quick blast of black krylon over the exposed metal and I was ready to re-assemble. I still have to get a few things for her and send her in to Murdoc for Arma-Coating, but here is the work in progress...

So your using the rail clamp to hold the barrel in.

You'd better hope that rail is strong.

Actually, I am using the factory barrel/mag (lock ring?) which came with the shotgun; that is what holds the barrel in. The only mod I did was to cut the front sight off, leaving the remainder of the factory part intact. Have a closer look at the pictures and you will see exactly what I am trying to describe.

I literally did the evil "ohh hoo hoo" laugh when I saw your assembled project. That looks awesome. I'm not a fan of mag fed shotties but I'd have to reconsider seeing that. Saved the pic :)

I've got a 12.5 DA tube fed sitting in some shipping warehouse. Should be here Monday. Planning some wood furniture along Innercity's gun on the left;
