Hi Guys I'm having trouble getting the mag to drop from my newly aquired Norc Commander. I can see the score marks on the mag and am wondering is it the mag itself or is there something I should know about the release mechanism itself? I don't like taking anything apart I know nothing about. Can anyone say if a couple of new mags will solve the problem?

if you had another mag to try that would help. Are the marks on the mag you have caused from the grip srcew being in to far? are the feed lips bent out? does the mag insert easy and not drop free?

Is it a Norc mag that's giving you a problem - I have a couple of "Colt" mags the are too thick for my Norc (but that's because although they say Colt, they ain't Colt). Otherwise, it could be grip screw bushings driven in too tight, wrong grip screws, or funky crap stuck in the release mechanism (a very real possibility - mine had grit inside the mag catch spring!!!) Pictures would be of assistance.

Thanks for the reply guys. The mag goes in easy for two thirds its length then sticks, I push it in untill it clicks then when the release button is pushed I have to pry the tongue to pull it down. Again it sticks for about a third the length. I'm thinking you guys might be right about the grip screw which I'll remove and try the release.

actually my norc was like that when i got it. the grip srews were a different langth top to bottom. i just switched them around. be very careful though there a fine metric thead. hard to fix or replace if you cross thread them.

if you have a set a calipers, measure the mag to see if it is consistant everywhere. I purchased some new unissued military mags at a fair price. come to find out they were the rejects and it took me with a 5lb fine adjustment tool to make them work.

Norc grip screws are the same as any other 1911, it's the outside thread on the grip screw bushing that's metric.

Mine dropped the mags very smoothly until I replaced the trigger with a Wilson Combat trigger.

The mags hang up on the trigger bows, a light stoning took care of it quickly.
