Mag panic buy situation

I wonder how long we have before they implement this new law. Criminal offense just to be in possession of them is ridiculous. I would think just about everyone that owns a firearm has at least one pinned magazine. I assume no mention of compensation, you're just out the money as usual. To be honest I don't even have any 5 round Pmags, they're all pinned so I'm out a lot. What a bunch of crap.

Magazine restricts are governed by regulation, so they don't need to pass legislation or anything to change them. If I'm remembering correctly they just have to table the regulation changes and after 30 days can bring them into force.

Nobody knows. No dates have been set, just talk from the Minister. They did campaign on this very thing in 2021, but not much has come from it other than talk thus far.

From the 2021 Liberal Platform:
Crack down on high-capacity magazines and require that long gun magazines capable of holding more than 5 rounds be permanently altered so that they can never hold more than five rounds. • Ban the sale or transfer of magazines that could hold more than a legal number of bullets, regardless of how they were intended to be used by the manufacturer.

Yeah but that begs the question of when after? It also begs the question of how long will they let things slide? For instance, the handgun freeze could have been brought into force sooner than they did. Will the same happen with this? Nobody knows.

If you've got the money and want mags then buy them now, because once they drop the regulation changes the market will go crazy, and with it some shops will start gouging (not saying TNA will, but we all saw what happened with handgun prices in some shops).
 
If penalty for possesion of pinned magazines is close to the penalty for having unpinned magazines, some peoplekind may decide to drill their rivets before putting them into long term storage.
 
Stupid is as stupid does. More wasted resources to accomplish nadda, except lieberal talking points.
I don't see too many people turning them in. I do see folks waiting for a change in government or modding the mag so it's more permanent to 5 rounds (welding). Frustrating though for sure.
