Mag Well For Para 16-40LTD

Ok guys I've been bouncing back and forth between Dawson precision(no fram cut) and Smith and Alexander,
I can't make up my mind and most people have been telling me go with Smith becuase it's stainless. I shoot IPSC with my para and I want to to it right with a mag well the first time on my para. Love to have an STI, but I'm playing with the para for now,
Any help / suggestions?

I am not sure about the Smith Alex, but I know base on my experience that if you use the Dawson mag well, you will have problem fitting the regular para magazine base pad into the Dawson mag well. The Dawson mag well will make the para magazine hole longer, that the regular para mags will not go all the way inside the mag hole to catch the mag latch because your mag base pad will be blocked by the Dawson mag well.
If you go with Dawson, you will have to use the viper base pad or you will need a high cap longer mags to make it work with Dawson.

Thanks, I've had the viper's for a while now so I'm covered. I learned the hard way and shot the provincials a few years ago, on one stage got to the last few targets, had to do a mag change and the factory base broke and I watched my ammo fall out like a pez dispenser...arrarrrhhhhhh all the guys said.. "I told you so"....
How about the Dawson's, they fit in the box ok right?

Couple of items, Dawson will not ship to Canada but if you can get it I would use Dawson over the S & A ( if you would like I can bring it in for you).

As for the Para base pads...Reg on longer make them Double Tap Sports has purchased the VIPER base pad business from Reg...we have them in stock should you need additional ones, not only do we make Para bases we also have the full line of STI / SV bases as well (126mm / 140mm).

I have this magwell and I like it but:

I was nearly bumped into open at Kingston Nationals because the O-ring was just a bit too big... Thankfully it was compressible and eventually passed the box test.

Not sure if Dawson made changes in the last few years, but I did have to grind a bit off the width of the magwell to fit in the Standard box when I got mine for my P16-40. The ICE magwell from Dawson will definitely not fit the box without some serious grinding.

Dawson may have changed this (I doubt it),but, you could always send an email to Dawson and ask what the width dimension is.
