Hi folks, i need your advice:
I got a second-hand norinco CZ clone (NZ85) that shoot well and eat everything i feed it. Unfortunately, the mags won't drop free on a slide lock.
They drop ok on a closed slide (or with no slide at all), but when the slide is open, they stick there. Mags are CZ brand.
Any clue on how to fix that issue?
Thanks!

I have a CZ 75. When I bought it the mags would not drop free because there is a mag brake inside the mag well along the back face of the grip.

I don't know if that is the case with the Clone.

I dissembled the firearm and manually manipulated the mag brake such that the mags fell free when they were released.

Given your description of what is going on I am not sure this is the case but it may be worth investigating.

Good Luck!

That's what i though at first, but wouldn't the mag brake work all the time, not just on a locked open slide?

Depends on how much curve it has.

It's an easy thing to check if you have a brake or not. Simply remove the grips and look. While you're at it you can slide the magazine into place and figure out what is rubbing.

It may be that the magazine just needs a slight squeeze. Or it may be that the mag latch doesn't fully retract and is dragging a little. Deal with what you find.

scuff marks on the mag is also a clue to what is rubbing.

Isn't the mag rubbing against the hammer spring if the mag brake is removed?

It likely will not rub, but in a high speed mag change like in an IDPA or IPSC match the mag may get caught on the hammer spring/internals and result in extra time...

A long time action pistol shooter advised me to straighten mine out so the mags would drop free and replace it.

A few twists with some needle nose pliers and everything was good to go with my CZ.
