I have a multitude of mags of different specs.

One will not fall free/eject from my Norinco Commander, but fairly flies out from the full size 1911 A1 (also Nork).

I don't think it is the mag brake, as it is the only mag.

I believe it is one of the mags that came with the A1 from Marstar.

What can I tweak, squeeze, bend etc. to make it freer falling?

Try first with another(non Norinco) magazine to see whether the mag ejects easily.Norinco mags arent good quality and the dimensions may be out.If that doesnt help, check that the inside of the frame is clean of the grease that Norinco ships the gun with and also that the grip screws arent too deep in the frame and catching on the mag.If that doesnt help, you need to check for other things such as a trigger bow thats bent etc

1911's dont have magazine brakes and a magwell (unless is out of dimensions) wont affect the ejection of the magazine

Does it fall free with the slide locked back?

Don't know. Will try it this evening.

Non Nork mags work fine, as do 'other' Nork mags (but who knows who makes them). I have two mags which I believe are the same (same markings/look etc.).

One works and one doesn't (again only in one gun.. both work in the other Nork).

I suspect a cheap mag. It only 'falls' about half an inch when the release is pushed.

I'll be picking up a couple of new mags soon, so no biggie. That will become one of my practise mags.

well i must of screwed the terms i was always told that anything that holds a mag has a mag well
sorry for the pic size here is my caspian and what i was talking about

i've got a bunch and it varies from mag to mag- some do, some don't- they're all 7rounders or 8 which used to be 7's with conversion kits- typically, the higher priced mags like a wilson, rogers, or similar quality go in and out like butter- without a magwell- the ones from s. america that were 5/25 bucks, would eject sometimes- sometimes not- and some about half way- and i'm on a colt series 70- so i relegated the non-ejectors to the back of my belt, and then started to work them in and out of the pistol- some this cured, some it didn't- and i'm talking like 100 times over a week or so- then those that still stuck, i took out the followers and springs to see if it was the body that was sticking-in some cases, replacing the followers and springs with extras i had worked, and some simply rotating the spring also worked- think i still have about 5 that are sticky
