mag wont lock into stag 10

I believe I read that some people saw better success using a Norgon ambi mag catch. It's the only one I've used, and had no problems with mags including ASC.

I had the same trouble with the xcr mags in mine, what i found was the top of the mag above the slot is flat where as the bottom is bowed out, and the stag mag catch doesn't stick out far enough to catch it properly i stuck a small flat screwdriver in the slot and took my brazing tip on my torch and heating the mag and pried it out just a bit and they work flawlessy in both my stags

I just used an unknown brand of ambi mag release I had in my parts bins.
On my factory mag releases, where the shaft part of the release meets the body of the release, there is a raised circle machined around the base of the shaft on the release body. I think that raised portion is the problem and it prevents the release from having enough protrusion in the magwell to grasp the mag catch hole.

edit.... my mags are gen3 pmags and CPD xcr-m 10rnd.

Mine locked in fine but would be low, the BCG would ride on top of the rounds sometimes. I polished the feed lips and it fixed the problem. Still not happy with the ASC mags though, the finish is terrible and is peeling off in several places, and that's just from range and bench use. I prefer CPD mags and have 6 on the way from the EE. CPD are harder to find in the 10 round XCR variant, can't think of a dealer that has them in stock right now.

So I bought 2 ASC XCR pistol mags, one locks in but pops out after the first shot. The other one works perfectly, which is strange because I bought them together and I see no difference in them at all.

So I think I will try a different magazine catch, I have 2 Norgon Ambi's on my other rifles, will swap one of them in and see if that can make the other mag stay locked in

Canadian dealer?

I just saw your question - are you asking if I purchased it from a dealer with the Norgon installed? If so, I bought a receiver set and completed it with LMT parts (bolt and receiver extension etc.) and installed the Norgon mag catch on my own.

I just wondered where you got it from the norgon

Nordic Marksman is the Canadian dealer for Norgon, and they make a specific AR10 ambi. None in stock at the moment if you want one better call before the shipment gets released. ASAP. I have one ordered for my S10.

I think you guys may have just got a defective/out of spec bolt catch or possibly ASC mags are the issue? My Stag holds mags just fine(CPD XCR-M, 5/10 Pmags, 5/20 Pmags). I would just go through warranty or try CPD instead of buying a Norgon(unless you want one already for other reasons).

I'm sure this isn't the fix for everyone but it's exactly what I did as well. Worked like a charm except I didn't use a torch. Just a flat head and pried up a bit. Before I did this the mag would fall out after first shot.

For anyone else having this issue just take the upper off and insert an empty mag. Push the follower down past the mag catch and you can see the mag catch barely through the notch in the hole of the mag. I initially did this to see if I needed to file open an out of spec hole but the hole was fine. The top of the notch in the mag just needed to bend out ever so slightly. The pmag does this already.

Cheers

Try tightening up the mag catch one turn?

you know im feelin kinda dumb. ive built many many AR rifles but this receiver came assembled from stag took it out today and had a look. BOOM cant even see the stud in the treads hardly. 4 full turns later its where it should be and latches/ unlatches any mag I have now. allways check the simple things first hey thanks cr5
