Magazine clarification

So I just want to confirm I'm good to go before going any further lol

I own a 10-22LR Ruger which is limited to 10 rounds ….check

Other brands are legal in 25 and 30 round magazines in LR such as Remington....


I recently purchased an adaptor for my Ruger that now allows me to use 25 and 30 round Remington magazines


This is completely legal right?

No. There is a thread going in this already. They RCMP have deemed them illegal but they do not make the laws. Once this is challenged in court, they will be fine again. Its just an RCMP interpretation but not law, most people.just don't have the money to fight it.

ok so this adapter running a Remington 30 round magazine which both were purchased January this year are legal but if I was stopped by the RCMP they would arrest me for being in possession?

This is wrong. It is the magazine which is in question, not the firearm that it is used in... if you use an otherwise legal Remington high capacity magazine and make it function in the 10/22, then it is legal to do so.
 
Your best to just get a remington and pew pew pew pew pew work the bolt, pew pew pew stovepipe pew pew pew etc....lol

Or a 552 Speedmaster 17 rounds of lr with easy to load tubemag..... runs flawless!

Yes, that is correct, and nowhere did I say it was the firearm. I said it’s the interpretation. Let’s face it, that adapter and a Remington magazine haven’t been classified by the RCMP as being restricted by their interpretation yet, but really, how different is it? It will still fit in the Charger pistol which is why this whole thing came up.

However, RCMP interpretation does not equate to law. If you have enough money to fight it, on top of a few of the firearms groups in Canada fighting it, you will win because the RCMP enforce laws, they don’t get to make them.

So the RCMP overstep and make a ridiculous interpretation specific to one magazine and you now decide to extend it to all mags? Thanks but no thanks...
 
You obviously don’t understand why they overstepped. Why are the magazines capable of holding more than 10 rounds illegal? Once you answer that question, with the proper answer, then my statement is actually quite accurate.

Ruger hi capacity mags are in question as theyre designed for use in a pistol even though the pistol came after the mags. Any other mag designed for any other rifle legal to have high capacity mags is legal if you can find a way to make it work

Its what theyre designed for not what theyre in

I have 12 rounds of 9mm ammo in a 40 cal glock mag in my just right carbine which is a semi auto rifle. Its legal because the mag was designed for a 40 cal glock handgun. It just happens to fit my rifle and function flawless

I understand exactly why they over-stepped...What I can't understand is Canadian firearms owners who go out of their way to invent new ways to subvert firearms ownership.

They are illegal only in eyes of the RCMP, but not in reality because of what they were originally designed for.

So once again, my statements are accurate, and once again, thank you for providing backup to it albeit while arguing about it.

The 10/22 was around LONG before the Charger pistol. The magazines have been around since before the Charger was around as well. Again, it comes down to interpretation and whether you have the money to fight that interpretation.

100% incorrect :p

That adaptor was designed for use in the "2031 Remington 597-BK" model. It is common knowledge that internal documents (will) show the "BK" model was internally designated with the "Baby Killer' nomenclature... All 597 mags should be pinned to "zero" rounds to remain legal...

Please do not ask the Internet on such important topics as your local RCMP Pre-Crime Division is the proper authority in which to consult such matters :runaway:

And yes I am joking and you are legal (for now).... :wave:
