Magazine Plugs - Hunting with an M4

Since I can't seem to put this gun down and hunting season approaches - why not use this piece every chance I get and see what happens.

I found a neat way to make some magazine plugs on the Benelli site below. You have to sign up for it but if interested its worth the time to look.

Anyone else have any other ideas or links on making these things? And no I am not aware of any Benelli made plugs for the M4. Let's face it, hunting wild animals was not a design consideration for this shotty - at least the type I am referring to.
 
Im not farmiliar with the m4 but there are lots of shotgun that use wooden dowels cut to length thats what I used on my 887 tactical.
 
Wont wood absorb and hold moisture though? And as such any treatment to prevent that would foul the magazine no?
What about using delrin? No marks no ness and best of all no moisture
 
I tried the wooden dowel and I just couldn't get used to the rattling around. Also, I go back and forth between 2 3/4 and 3's during the day so it will rattle around at least half of the day. Call me anal but I wanted something that stays centered and is attached at or near the mag cap. I think if I can get my hands on a lathe I could make a nice flanged cap that would hold the dowel in place and stay in place in between the spring and the cap.
 
"...Won't wood absorb and hold moisture..." Yeah, but who cares? You won't be leaving the thing in for cleaning. In any case, a hunk of ABS or PVC pipe will do nicely. The only thing that matters is not being able to load more than 2 for migratory birds or everything in Ontario.

I bought a 1952 wingmaster on the EE last year. When I got it, I took it all apart. It had never been disassembled as near as I could tell and obviously had lived in a barn for some of its life. It had a nice old factory wooden plug in the tube that still works perfectly and low and behold the magazine is not rusted inside either.

Custom machining is probably the only way to go for you so let us know how it turns out. I think the only material strong enough will be 6AL4V Titanium alloy so make sure that is what you use. Perhaps a custom quick release adjustment mechanism with solid Ti plugs of different lengths will be best to allow fast plug changes between hunting different species. Or, in case a zombie invasion happens during a hunt - then you can hit the quick release eject button and shoot the titanium plug at the zombies.

Titanium? No offense, but are you out of your mind? Maybe I don't understand what you're getting at, but if a wooden plug is strong enough to work, an aluminum or plastic plug will be plenty fine. Custom machining anything out of Titanium would cost a not-so-small fortune. Your best bet is to buy something like this for your shotgun:

I'm being completely dead nuts serious here. We are talking about an M4 being used for birds. Didn't you hear the op? Normal plugs rattle. It's gonna have to be solid titanium milled integral with a new cap. And he's going to need two of them for different shell lengths. This way it won't rattle, AND the price will be high enough to make them that the fancy M4 super 90 blaster will not be offended by the parts. If you put rattling wood or plastic inside one of these guns they simply will not kill birds. The gun gets offended and won't hunt.

Ok, I understand now. Yes, Ti only. Well, actually, Rhenium might be better, and it should be Rhodium coated for extra flashiness.

I just bought another wingmaster on the EE. It had a wood plug in it just like the last one. No rust, and it doesn't rattle if properly fitted into the spring retainer.

how long do you plan on leaving it in just hunting season don't worry about it. Not like you will want to shoot targets with the plug in.
