I'm going from the 18.5 remington tactical barrel to a 14" barrel w/ plus one extension from Dlask.

Wondering if I should replace the spring and if so, where to purchase?

Thx

Do you have an extension on it with the 18.5" barrel? The stock spring is good with the +1 extension, as BBB says.

Yes its the stock one from factory..870 tactical which holds 7 rounds.

I'd like to take it down to the 14" barrel w/ +1.

dont cut your spring - buy a new one.
maybe ask on the EE - people who have added extensions and have no intention of going back may sell theirs.

or order one from Brownells. if you do, make sure you put a note on the order to ask them NOT to send you catalogues. i ordered a rem 700 extractor once which should have cost ~$1.50 to ship and they charged me $20 shipping because they added two huge catalogues to the order and mailed it in a big box f:P:

I had a +2 length spring get kinked and crap out on me when I tried to use it after I took the mag extension off, maybe it wouldn't happen with a +1 extension but who knows?

If it were me I'd order XP standard length spring from Brownells', or better yet an XP spring and aluminum mag follower package combo. Actually that's what I did though I run a standard length mag and regular strength spring.

thanks for all the advice.

I've decided to just purchase a new spring from brownells as it only cost's 7 bucks plus shipping....that way I know its done right.
