Magazine tube clamp?

Clamps have been know to work loose after a long range trip too, as they are often only secured with one small, shallow screw.

Yeah, it needs to be removed for regular cleaning and inspection. Look at the 870 tacticals with clamps, barrels and tubes all scratched up from movement and removal.

Also check your POI after installation., Personally if your mag extension doesnt go beyond your bbl, I wont bother having one. If you are really incline to put a clamp , try searching for the Taccom Stabilizer, this one doesnt touch the bbl only engages to your mag extension, so in theory your bbl is still in free float, no change of POI.

Thanks for the input, all.
I find the S&J extension to be really solid and robust. I think I'll pass on installing a clamp. The comments about scratching the barrel and the clamp coming loose make a lot of sense. I shoot my Benellis, a LOT.

Do you happen to know of anywhere to get a Taccom Stabilizer in Canada?

The clamp is used to prevent breaking the extension tube if the tube is bashed on it's side
against a solid object by accident. Longer extension tubes are easier to damage.

I had a longer extension tube snap at the join between the threaded "collar" and the tube under just such circumstances.

The clamp has been lost earlier due to recoil slippage.

The broken tube rendered the shotgun un-usable until it was repaired.

The better tubes have a dimpled section for the clamp to prevent the clamp from sliding off due to recoil.

On my longer extension tube I fabricated a clamp "stop collar" and glued it to the end.
The prevents the clamp from sliding off due to recoil.
(I had to source a replacement clamp).

You can buy direct to Taccom, or if you have a 3D Printer you can download it from Taccom for free.
If I'm not mistaken the stabilizer is best to use with the Nordic ext. since the tube has a recess for a clamp or the stabilizer, you can ask Tim of Taccom for clarification , his quick answering inquiries.

A clamp is a good idea for a Nordic Components tube.

They are thin and fragile, and generally VERY long (some are +9).

S&J are heavy-duty, and generally pretty short. So no clamp is needed.
