Just got my new to me Commander size S&W 1911 that I bought from another board member.
The gun is beautiful, cycles perfectly and the two S&W 8 round mags that came with it work perfectly and drop out nicely when the mag release is pressed. Tried a dozen Chip Mccormick 8 rounders and found that while they all seated OK ony three of these fell easily when I hit the mag release. The notches in the Chip Mccormick magazines that engage the magazine catch seem a little narrower vertically than those on the Smith mags. however I'm not sure its a necessarily a notch issue since some of the mags drop 1/8" to 1/2" upon hititng the mag release but then have to be pulled to complete their removal.
Has anybody encountered this before and found a solution?. I'm hesitant to start opening the notches on the Mccormick mags because they work perfectly on my other 1911's. Anybody try MecGars in a S&W `1911?
many thanks for your advice.
