How much recoil would a .375 H&H magnaported have? I'm just wondering ... like they say " Suck it up buttercup" hahaha! just want to prepare myself for the kick.

My Brno 602 in 375 H&H does not kick, it is a big push instead. Stock design, fit, and weight of the rifle will determine the effect of the recoil. Don't be scared, it's a pussycat. Shoot it off hand first, with the scope removed if it has QD mounts before you shoot it off the bench. Have fun.

Kids handle everything better than we do......LOL my kids swim in the lake and its freezing to me... they always say chicken its not cold DAD..... Slocan Lake that is....

JohnS375HH,
The .375 H&H is a big pussy cat, assuming a decent amount of weight. There is a lot of recoil but it is so slow that it doesn't hurt. It is no big deal really, just a big shove. I shot 60 rounds out of my CZ 550 plus 50 rounds of .300 Win mag before breakfast this morning without any ill effect. I did have a T shirt on for padding though.:p On the other hand a muzzlebrake is very painfull. I'll never own another one.

I had a Browning A-Bolt Stainless Stalker in 375Magnum for a time. It had the worst possible stock design for a 375 and was darn near impossible to shoot as it came from the factory. My 22/250 had a larger butt area and wider comb than this gun did.

I had the recoil pad changed to a Decelerator and the barrel magnaported (6 hole) and the difference was night and day. It was a totally different rifle.

If the gun in question is properly stocked, magnaporting would not be required and I would avoid it as it is very noisy. A good recoil pad should do the trick.

When shooting a med or big bore from the bench, it is a good idea to try to sit with your back as straight up/down as possible. Hunching down or leaning into the rifle adds alot of felt recoil to the shooting experience.

Well with a Mcmillian stock and Magna Ported with a decellerator pad for recoil I should be alright....
Are you buying a gun like this, or building one?

What type of rifle?

I have a Finnbear that I bought used and it had been mag-na-ported. The recoil is very manageable, similar to my unported 8mm magnum. Like someone else said it is a push. My buddies late 300 wsm Tikka was a lot worse to shoot.

I got the riffle on a trade.. Remmy 700 KS Mountian riffle. MaxKW had the riffle up For Sale ... I picked it up I always wanted a .375 H&H  just finding out a few things ..

Thanks

Remington 700 KS mountain rifle, Matte blueing, hinged floorplate, magnaported barrel, camoed Mcmillan stock with decellerator pad

Should be easy to shoot. The magnaporting helps alot, but don't forget ear protection and be careful for your buddy if you decide to shoot it beside him, as he will likely break it over your head. :D

Yupp it sure is a nice gun, I should recieve it tuesday or Wensday then I'll put a VX1 Leupold on it. thanks:cool: and MaxKW is a great guy to deal with too.

John the 375 recoil is very manageable, My normal spot and stalk rifle is a 375H&H.
You have met my wife and she has shot mine with out a problem  I dont think you will find it a problem , The recoil from a 375H&H actually seems more comfortable to shoot then most 338s i have had the pleasure of beating myself with :D more of a push then a punch.
Dont be afraid to use a 3x9 or a 2x7 on it, the 375 will reach out as well as an 06 .
