My Brno 602 in 375 H&H does not kick, it is a big push instead. Stock design, fit, and weight of the rifle will determine the effect of the recoil. Don't be scared, it's a pussycat. Shoot it off hand first, with the scope removed if it has QD mounts before you shoot it off the bench. Have fun.

Have to agree for the most part. I have a Brnu ZKK 602 in .458wm & a Model 70 Winchester in .458wm. Both weigh almost the same however the recoil is considerably more noticeable in the Winchester, even though to me, the Winchester 'feels' more comfortable.
Magnaporting is something I won't do to any of my firearms. I think I prefer the gun to recoil up rather than straight back even though it may mean a slightly longer recovery time. A personal choice only. I have a S&W 500 that is ported and I wish it wasn't, mainly because of powder fragments etc coming back at you. Safety glasses are not an option, but a must.

Well,John and I got to try this rig out today,(he managed a 3 hour drive to my neck of the woods, tell me that ain't a Gunnut)....
WOW. ...is all I can say

I was really impressed with the way it handled and fealt...nice crisp trigger, recoil was quite tame and accurate as all get out.....
We mounted up a nice Leupold VXI on her,she looked right at home.
John was pretty excited as well, the first shot he was a bit nervous, but after that,he handled her like an old pro....

That is the largest caliber that I have ever had the opportunity shoot, felt like a cross between a 30.06 and a 300 win mag...very nice rig...the magnaporting does wonders, but you'll have to sacrafice noise level in exchange..not a real big deal though if you are only gonna shoot a few times a year I suppose;)

Sounds Like your Happy with the rifle John, don't worry about the cost of ammo because the reloading stuff will be there by the weekend and it sounds like you have some gunnutz up there to help you load for it and shoot with also.

Very Happy Max ....once the first shot was over it was a piece of cake! I can See me shooting a few rounds outta that big bore.... cheers Max. OH!! the power it has is UNREAL!! hahaha!

I think magnaporting is a criminal offense...

Don't ruin a fine rifle with that crap!!

FYI I fired 10 rounds .338WM that was mild 34 ft/lbs recoil; 10 .416Rem that was ~55 ft/lbs recoil; and 10 rounds .458 Lott from 78-80 ft/lbs recoil today.

Your .375H&H is going to be somewhere in the 45-50 ft/lbs range depending on the rifle weight. That's a friggin' pussycat. :)

Johns

I know what you mean about the recoil. I have been shooting a 375 for 3 years now and when I first got it, I couldn't get over the size of the shells. Like you, I had never shot anything that big before and only using a 30-06 for 15 years of hunting, all I could think was wow that is huge and it is going to hurt.

My first shot, I went down below the house by myself and just pointed it in a safe direction and closed my eyes and pulled the trigger. That was when I realized what everybody was talking about. The recoil is not that bad, it is basically all in your head.

Now I quite enjoy shooting that rifle.

Everyperson that has shot that rifle is the same way. If they have never shot a bigger rifle.

Congrats on the new toy. She's a keeper.
