Magnum 12ga loads versus regular

What makes a slug round 'magnum'?
I looked at hodgdon reloading data and they only have 1 load for 12ga slugs, not even lowest and highest loads. Is that a regular load? What is magnum then?
 
Easy to tell a magnum. In the wording about them the starting word is "Magnum!"
It's a catch all, macho induced word, fools everybody. Along with such other words as High performance, High fidlity, super strong, super fast, etc.
 
The only difference in my regular and magnum loads for the 10 gauge is using a 209M (magnum primer) with 40.5gr Blue Dot for 1165fps or a regular 209 primer with 41gr Blue Dot for 1165fps? One is a magnum and one is a regular, both have 10,500 LUP/psi and now you do a paper pattern test out of your gun to see if there is a difference. This is my lead turkey loads for 2 1/4 ounce of shot in a Remington hull?

Okay, but why, as opposed to the rifle/handgun loads, there is only one for the shotgun slugs? Is that low, medium, or 'never exceed' load?

Knowing that there are factors like scale precision etc, powder lot variations... How can one reloading based on Hodgdon manual sleep well?

Shotgun barrels that were rated as magnums back in the good old days were meant to handle 3 inch ammo, in either 12 gauge or 20 gauge, FS
