Magnum primers in non-magnum loads?

After the great primer shortage of 08 I bought 5000 CCI-250's so everything gets a magnum I paid $3/100 now they are almost twice that.

Use the mag primers and develop your load as per usual. can't hurt. Might help.

I say "might" because if you use a light bullet and ball powder it may be the only way to get the ammo to work.

X2. Likely you will also get far more consistant shot to shot velocities under most shooting conditions as well

Found that 1 grain of most powders were equal to the difference between mag and regular large rifle primers. Feet per second was almost the same with 1 grain less powder using the mag primer. Did notice flash hole and primer pocket was harder to clean too. Hotter I guess. Take a grain of powder off to start.
