Magpul AFG.... Gimmick?

All sks's already have an AFT, and they were made 60 years ago.

Never go full tactical.

Jokes aside, it's all personal preference. I hate it when people put AFG on their guns specifically to be "tacticalcool" because it is what's IN right now, it's really lame.

I've tried both now and have ended taking both off so I can just grip the stock fore-end. For some reason, with the aftermarket grips, I would end up grabbing the magwell, which I hate doing. It was totally subconscious.

I've been effective without any grip, with vert grip, and with angled grip. It should not be a determining factor on shot placement.

Also, if you guys are reaching fatigue after range sessions without vert grips, you need to work out.

There is going to be a lot of personal preference on this one. I have one on my ar as well as on my KSG. They both perform different functions for both guns. On the KSG it does nothing that provide me with a locator for my hand. I was grabbing the pump handle to close and not getting a full pump action when I ran that gun.. added the afg and never had the problem again. On my AR-15 on the other hand I find it much more comfortable and ergonomic to shoot with the afg. I doubt it effects my accuracy with the gun. just make it more comfortable, as well as providing me with a hand locator so that I am getting the same grip every time in the exact same place every time. And when running and gunning this CAN help my accuracy for quick shooting.

I've never run a verticle grip, but have nothing against them.. Just remember, they arn't ment to be gripped like you would grip a pole...they are ment to be half held with your hand up on the handguard....acting as a locator. Personally I prefer the AFG, it takes into account the natural angle that my hand wants to be at anyway.

You can't really go wrong with either one as long as you use it correctly and place it correctly for your body type.

I really like mine. Opsgear has the best prices I've found.

ditto ... most of, if not all my magpul stuff comes from them. I prefer the afg over the c grip just because its a better angle for my wrist. Ive never tried a vertical grip ... they look to rambo for my liking.

I've tried just about everything. I just prefer hand stops now.

I like hand stops too. They are generally light weight, unobtrusive, provide a good index for your hand and you can jam them into a barricade for more support if need. I've used the Cadex hook on both the VZ and AR and it is excellent.
