The lovely Chinese seller failed to mention that the item I bought on eBay was the air soft version, am I right in assuming that it will be fine and able to handle being on my SR-22?

Magpul Inds. Corp.

Magpul PTS, (Professional Training & Simulation)/Magpul Asia
Based Asia
Products for training weapons, Airsoft/ Soft Air/ Little Plastic BB thingy’s/ BB gatz

While Magpul products look similar PTS products there are material differences in polymers, coatings, treatments and processes. Because of this we discourage the use of PTS products on Real-Steel weapons.
Built for non Real-Steel hobbyist, prop collectors and force on force training.

You're good to go, I did the same. You wouldn't know the difference with the real thing on a .22.

And I got mine straight from the manufacturer for $7 :D

I'd also bet a bit of money that the PTS AFGs would work just fine on an AR15 and would have a comparable usage life.
