My DPMS mags are of the metal variety so there was no risk there. Had I had plastic mags I would of definitely used a file. Good for bringing that up though!Be careful with the angle grinders and dremel tools, if you get the rivet too hot it will soften the plastic and it will get loose. Luckily I found this out on a crappy old mag (non pmag) that was unreliable anyway.
Agree with everything here. Unfortunately if riveted mags were brought up to be appealed on that information, the result would be no more big mags pinned to less instead of actually getting higher capacity mags. Our laws are definitely stupid. Neutering a magazine is a sin and doesn't make anyone safer.
Of course a criminal using a firearm in a crime is going to leave the rivet in because he wouldn't want to break more than one law at a time.
The only positive thing about our stupid mag capacity laws it that we get lots of practice changing mags so we should be really good at it.
