I have a PRS stock on the way. The lower its going on is a standard carbine lower with a 6 position stock. For the Magpul PRS stock, can I use the buffer extension tube off the lower and the same carbine spring and buffer? Anybody have any info on this? I cant seem to find the specifics on what I can or cant use for parts for this thing. Its not easy to find A2 rifle springs anymore now that everybody is using 6 position stocks and stuff. On the PRS does the CAR buffer tube just insert into it? Info from anybody who installed one would be greatly appreciated. The magpul website doenst give alot of info either. Thanks

This stock will need a A1/A2 Rifle receiver extention (buffer tube), a A1/A2 Rifle Buffer, and a A1/A2 Rifle Buffer Spring to mount to your stripped receiver.

NOTE: The PRS is a direct replacement for an A1 or A2 fixed stock. Fitting to a Carbine will require a Rifle Receiver Extension tube, Rifle Buffer and Spring (not included).

Direct from Magpul's website.

yeah but is the rifle extension tube the same thing as a CAR buffer tube? I have been looking at parts lists and see some places label them as the same part? This is what I need info on.

ok so the rifle tube is longer, where can I get a rifle tube, buffer and spring? These dont seem easy to find. Anybody know who stocks them?

The carbine extension tube has the lug on the bottom for the positioning of the locks on the carbine stock. The rifle buffer tube is round. The stock just slides on and is held in place with a screw from the back into the rear of the buffer tube. The screw also has a small hole drilled thru it supposedly to let the air out of the buffer tube when the spring is compressed when the gun is fired. Wolverine should have the parts you need, or get them from Brownells

Brownells has it, not sure if they'll ship it north of the border though.

I have an extra A2 stock set in the EE, has the tube, buffer,spring..

Questar stocks the rifle stock kit:

https://shopquestar.com/shopping65/shopexd.asp?id=415&bc=no ($130 CAD)

but for the tube, buffer and spring you might have to go to Brownells:

http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/sid=53509/pid=27315/sku/A2_Rifle_Stock_Completion_Kit ($39 USD)

Note that Questar charges $55 CAD for the A2 type stock, so whichever way you look Brownells is a bargain.

Edit: oops, AlexD92 beat me.

thanks guys, I was on Brownells for about an hour and couldnt find it. The new search engine is ####.

really? I just typed buffer tube. :p

so did I...It didnt come up.

Thanks for the help, I have ordered the Brownells no name rifle tube, spring and buffer. Im sure it will ship as its a Brownells part.

I don't do so good on the search with them either for various items. Thats why I always get the actual catalogue shipped to me, all 576 pages of it.

Try searching for "receiver extension".

Either way there are probably a bunch of A1/A2 stock sitting around in people's parts bins due to the fact that for about a year or so the US wasn't allowing collapsible stocks to be exported. I'm sure a WTB in the EE will net you a new/nearly new setup.

Yeah it ended up being $31 from Brownells for a new spring, tube and buffer. Not a bad price. It shipped today.
