Hi guys,

Im looking at some Magpul PTS stuff ( i know i know.. airsoft rubbish ) .. its still made by magpul, ive just got a couple of questions for those who know..

The MPul PTS MBUS .. are they any different functionally to the standard MBUS ? will they handle recoil or just break.. are the adjustments accurate?

The PTS stocks .. again same question.. recoilable ? or will they just break

and finally.. the PTS grips.. same Q as above

Thanks in advance

just a note that these will be going on an MDT Tac21 rather than an AR10/15

stupidly, with my gun laws i can get magpul PTS no problem, but damned if i can get regular Magpul stocks

I have handled my buddies airsoft magpul stuff, can't really tell the difference, it is not like normal magpul is gear is that tough to begin with....

Here's the thing about the PTS stuff and the regular Magpul stuff. Magpul guarantees all their items to hold up to the rigours of combat. Officially the PTS brand is for training use only, and all their items are indicated as such. However, they're both built to the same specs, just not the same type of polymers. Also, Magpul products come with different mounting screws, (for rail accessories), and they are all tipped with blue locktite. The PTS ones aren't, so you'll have to re-tighten them from time to time, unless you locktite it.

Really that's the difference, they'll work but aren't as durable. Alot of ppl already gave me flak for having a PTS CTR stock, and issues with mortaring your gun. But hey, the real stocks fail too, CGN link, so take it all for a grain of salt right?

However, I did personally find the difference between the 2 polymers myself. I had tried to modify their MOE Trigger guard slightly, and after a while of cutting, I had warped the blade. With the regular polymers, it had just cut through. So Magpul stuff's really strong.

Anywho, that's just my 2 cents.

You might find that the PTS MBUS are a very tight fit on picatinny rails as they're designed for airsoft. For a .22LR they're probably fine, but I shudder to think of the accuracy on anything else.

Most of the PTS stocks are Airsoft-specific and won't work (ACS, UBR, PRS). Ditto for the hand guards. And I wouldn't trust any PTS Magpul stocks or grips on an actual firearm because the plastic doesn't have the same strength, heat tolerance, rigidity, etc.

Wrong. There are physical variations (and tolerances) between the PTS/Airsoft and genuine Magpul article. And I'm not referring to just the dimensions, but the strength, heat resistance, etc. Like I said, you can probably get away with some of the components (like the MBUS) on a .22LR - but I'd be really hesitant about using any PTS grip or stock on a .223 or larger caliber.

Yes you are correct, they are built to roughly the same physical specs, that's really about it. They wouldn't be guaranteed for the same rigours on a tactical rifle. For a .22lr rifle, I don't really have any issues with them, for the .223, you probably can get away with it for a while, but i'm sure it'll bite you in the ass in the longer run...

I threw a Magpul PTS AFG2 on my CZ858 and I am happy with it. I was concerned about the quality, so I grabbed it and twisted it, and banged it against my desk with nothing happening. The only thing I had to do was put a better mounting screw in it.

Cant beat $15 w/ free shipping off of Ebay!
