Magpul Questions

Should I ever require to ship out to a war zone I will most likely switch to milspec equipment. In the meantime I will use whatever works and is affordable. Oh and if the zombies come and my kit sucks and I see someone with better kit, well that dude looks pretty infected to me ;)

Well, as long as you recognize that you are buying to suit your needs, and don't fall in to the trap of "good enough for me is good enough for anyone" then I would say you are good to go.

I have no problem with anyone buying ATI or FAB or CAA parts or anything else...I only become concerned with the people who then take the extra step of telling others that the cheap stuff is just as good as the expensive stuff, when in fact they really don't know whether that is true.

There are a lot of people out there doing just that, particularly with guns, in my experience. They run a thousand rounds through a Taurus over the space of three years and pronounce it a great pistol, and chalk up the 5-10 FTFs to "bad ammo". They then fire one mag through a Wilson Combat some guy has at a range, and decide their gun is every bit as good because they didn't recall a malfunction with either.

If all you do is idle around a parking lot, that is 100% cool by me...just remember it's not a good testing environment for comparing a Lada to a Porsche. That is not directed at you, but just a general comment on what I see in gun circles.

I agree totally Misanthropist. I only seek to point out that for those of us plinking at the range the PTS line is a totally viable alternative to full price magpul. I do not compete in any action shooting so I cannot comment on it's durability while rolling in the mud. Realistically 98% of ninjas never leave the dojo if you know what I mean. What gets me going is the kool aid drinkers who condemn functional gear just because it's made somewhere else because it cost less than what they paid or didn't come with a lock of Costa's pubes.

When it comes to Magpul, personally I am not entirely convinced the PTS stuff isn't manufactured at exactly the same factories as the other gear.

Stop reading my mind!!!!
Why (from a business stand point) would you incur the costs of a production facility in the USA when you have an identical factory in HK that can produce everything for a fraction of the cost. Not to mention airsofters would never spend the same money on #### us gunnutz do.

I remember one of the reasons why they have the pts stuff is that if you compare the average electric airsoft gun to a real one, the dimensions are slightly different by a few millimeters which can make a big difference between fitting and not fitting. Oh and airsoft is big in asia for one big reason, they are not allowed to own any real guns ever and for a lot of them, these airsoft guns are as close to the real thing as possible legally.

Well I think I might go with the PTS parts mainly due to budget, I can see the triger guard, the handguard and the pistol grip being just fine, But the stock is whats going to take most of the recoil so I guess I'll see what happens with that.
