mags for a pre 81 BLR

a buddy of mine just inherited a BLR in .308 sadly missing its mag. turns out there rare and stupid expensive. has any one had any luck or heard of people modifying other mags to work in one? I read on a American forum some fella claimed he modified a savage mag to fit but didn't say what model. any help or ideas where I could find a cheaper one would be great.

snap it up.
I've seen some ambitious sellers at the $300 mark, but they get BTT.

^ some folks have sold the magless rifle because of not being able to find/afford a mag! If it come to that, I'd be interested in looking at it.

$250- $275 is standard for pre-81 mags these days... some do get $300 from desperate buyers.

In the eighties SIR WPG was selling mags that fit the pre 81 BLRs for $18.00. I had 5 or 6 . They were not Browning marked, matte finished versus the factory mags. Functioned well.

Should have bought a hundred .

The mag is half the price of a pre 81 BLR or if a mag is $275 then the magless rifle is $275
