I just placed an order for a Benelli MR1 and want some high capacity mags. I don't mind spending for quality mags. Which ones are the best and where is a good place to order them from? What are the biggest mags we are aloud to have in Canada? Thanks!!!

Link to mags

Questar sells the ten rounders as mentioned above. Here is a link to the page.

Other makes of larger capacity AR style mags are readily available in Canada but they are pinned to five rounds. I am not sure witch ones would suit your new benelli the best.

I am also considering the new benelli. looks like a nice gun. Let us know how you like it. A range report would be awesome.

From what I understand and from what others have said these mags are legal to use for anything. They are classified as pistol mags mags and therfore are legal to have. The law doesnt state or care what gun you use them in. Anyway this is just my understanding of it. Alot of people dissagree with this including several of the gunsmiths I talked to about it. Although they werent black rifle addicts like many on this forum. It seems to be a loophole that allows us to have and use these mags. Follow this link that I dug up a little while ago. I has some good info on this topic. Also attached is an RCMP letter on the subject.

Non Resricted Benelli MR1 + 10 rnd mags = nice rig.

Well, yes 10 rounders can be used in an MR1, or any gun that takes AR type mags for that matter. But remember, if you are HUNTING, you also have to follow your provincial game laws. And if they state 5 rounds only in a semi auto, you have to abide by those laws. Of course that doesn't stop you from using 10 rounders for plinking, target practice, competition, etc.

Is hunting coyotes with a 10 round mag legal?

If you are in Ontario it would be gun dependent. In a Remington 7615 Police you could use the LAR-15 10 round magazines without and issue. The same magazine could not be used to hunt with a semi-auto such as a XCR, Tavor, or MR1.

Chizzy

Take this information and do with it what you wish. I am not held liable.

I spoke to the local conservation officer in town and after 2 hours of research he said there is no problem using a 10 round clip in a semi-automatic .223 rifle in Alberta as long as the clip is legal with the RCMP. A .223 cannot be used to hunt big game and as such coyotes do not fit into the rule of a 5 shot maximum like on big game animals.
