Just wondering who is using the Tanfo mags in their CZ's and I would like to hear the pros and cons if any. This past weekend one of my new 10 round CZ mags opened up started double feeding and this is only the third match I have competed in with this gun/mags. The Tanfoglio mags I know are higher build quality, but they are slightly longer than the CZ ones, and have heard of some nosediving issues. Just looking for some input. Has anyone tuned the factory mags? What is the correct measurement supposed to be between the feed lips? Thanks in advance for any help.

I suspect CZ mags are of a really low quality and the metal seems particularly thin compared to mags for other pistols, because I've had a lot of issues with the feed lips spreading. You can quickly fix it by taking the mag apart and applying pressure to the lips to close them up a bit. I think it's had to press them too far together. The round should be very difficult to strip from the top of the mag by pulling the point of the round straight up, possible but difficult. If you can easily pull the round out the top without sliding it, the feed lips are too far apart.

I'd like to hear more input about these tanfoglio mags too, cause I've recently bought 5 new CZ mags I use only for competitions (when it really counts) and the rest I use in practice.

Double feeding isn't usually mag's issue, unless the spring is weak.
I personally see GMs, Ms and A class competitors using factory CZ mags.
Mags have to be inspected and cleaned after every match as the least as they get some beating being dropped, empty or partially loaded.

New factory mags' lips opening is 0.358".

Do not forget to polish inner edge of the lips for smooth feeding. It may have to be done again after mags been dropped at a match.

All mags will spread eventually especially if dropped on cement a lot. Some people say the Tanfo mags need the catch window recut, but I've had no issues since putting on the Henning baseplates. Prior to that I could see the window was getting chewed up if the mag wad inserted too hard.

As far as my springs, the mags are brand new, maybe had them a month, and as hard as it is to load them I cannot say they would be weak by any means. Keep the input coming guys!

it is production legal to use tan mags with Henning pads in a CZ shadow.

I had been told IPSC also has a box for production guns with mag inserted,...but I am not sure about that...???
I know USPSA has a production box. (ie: so make sure you use the right Henning mag pad). Tan mags with rubber tan basepads will be a no go for USPSA as they don't fit in the box with either a tanfoglio stock 2 or CZ shadow.

I got a few of ProMag magazines for my CZ and Beretta. they don't scream quality and were pretty affordable but I haven't had any issues with them in either gun.

I've personally never put my CZ in a box, and I don't think there is one for production. They just recently modified the box for Standard, but I don't think there is one yet for Production. I think the only rule is that you have to use factory parts. I'm not sure how using Tanfo mags in a CZ would work with that. I don't think it would.

I have three stainless tanfoglio mags that I bought from hennings. They work, but I tend to use them as stripper mags and the last mags to be loaded. The 10 round cz mags work well and they have the plastic baseplate which is more comfortable on the mag change then the sharp steel one on the tanfoglio. If you have sensitive hands you should consider buying weighted basepads if you do decide to go with the tanfoglio. I have run about 4,000 rounds through the CZ and tan mags without issue so they both function quite well.

Thanks for all of the feedback guys. Mo in regards to the box, I overheard that statement about the box- was it not said that at the World's your Production gun will be boxed? Our boy has been at the last 3, maybe he witnessed it firsthand?
