Mags for STI Edge?

Get yourself some SVI tubes and build your own. The best mags I have for my STI's are built using SVI tubes and Arredondo followers. Brownells carries them.

hmm I cant seem to find that on brownelss site, it also seems to be american, are mags ok and easy to ship across the boarder?

The SVI are by the way more expensive then the STI Mag....cannot import Highcap unless they have been plug before Brownells won't do that.......the Factory stuff is very good! Depending were you shoot.....if you shoot IPSC you may want the 140mm plug for 10 rounds. Talk to Freedom Ventures...

Buy the Pinned 126mm or 140mm mags from Freedom Ventures. They are excellent mags. If your Shooting IPSC with it then you will want base pads too, I've got the vipers and am happy with them. The 126mm need the extended pad for faster seating, the 140mm don't need any extra length but the aluminum viper does hold up to dropping on concrete etc, better than the factory plastic.

Yea you are over $100 per mag when it's all said and done but hey you bought an Edge, you have already demonstrated your willing to pay for quality. You wouldn't bolt crappy tire rims on your Ferrari would you?;)

...it won't be any less expensive than factory STI mags...

Are you having a specific problem with the factory mags?

cheap? No, but they work better than STI mags. After all the $$$ you pour into your Edge and related equipment, buying mags that work is a worthwhile investment. Just my 2 cents worth.

Agreed...but he did ask for mags that were cheaper/better...

The only problem is there is only one. lol

I will be shooting IPSC, its a .40 so I think the 126mm are the ones I want for double stack.

I like the factory mag, and it seems like it would take abuse, esspecially with a base pad, but if there was something better esspecially for cheaper I would go that way.

And for shipping if each mag comes to 60 bucks, but I buy 4 of them then does it still fall under the 100 dollar thing? or would I have to ship one by one?

I use the old style factory 10's with the horizontal crimp and I've never had any problems with them. Before you try to order them in from the US...I'd call Freedom Ventures (Canadian Distributor for STI)

They sell two types of STI Mag...Factory 10 (new style with vertical indentation) or ones they pin themselves...

Click on the Banner add above and give them a call (much less hassle than importing from the US)

If you get the 126's...I'd suggest Viper, Grams or Dawson Base Pads. The 126's with the factory pads are a bit short to do fast reloads if you have much of a Magwell on the gun

Cheers

81.65 each.
Or from the states for 66.41 after exchange. over 4 mags thats a savings of enough to buy the cr speed belt. and being that I will be in the states and can pick up it saves shipping. But I dont want a hassel at the boarder either. :( esspeically getting onto a plane... and what if I fly carry one only? (I am a light packer)

I dont have a problem getting the 126mm in right now, but from the sounds of it the pinned ones are nicer because the 10th round isnt a pain to get in (my biggest beef with the factory mag).

And I dont know if I understant this, but the double stack 10 round mag could hold more even at 126mm if it wasnt pinned or crimped to only hold 10? I always thought there just wasnt room.

I have 8 140 for my edge in 40 SW along with one 126mm ALL STI and I got now problem at all firing so what are you talking about.....don't tell me the SVI are cheaper...if you can get them!

I wouldn't buy the 10 rds mags....I would only buy the 126 High Capacity which will be pin be can be uses...same price and easier to reload....

You'll need an export permit...add t he Canadian taxes and the brokerage fee...plus a bottle of rum that you'll have to consume when you find out Customs has held them up for no paticular reason...now how much will you save

It can also be a slow process getting in something from the US...

I couldn't find any SVI Magazine tubes on Brownells, only STI complete magazines.

However, they were $60 each. So, you could only order one per package, along with $40 worth of other ####. Your order has to be $100 or less US before taxes and shipping.

But, even before you get to that, those magazines are the standard hicap mags. Brownells won't dissassemble them so that you can get them across as "Magazine Kits", so customs would snag them.

The easiest/safest (doesn't land any americans in prison for shipping you items which are a prohib export - felony)/not necessarily the cheapest method is to give the guys over at Freedom Ventures a call. That's what I'll be doing when I decide on the Edge or the Tactical 4.15

Yes SPS does exist but same deal not really cheaper for the mag itself plus shipping More tax because now you will pay tax on the shipping...+ 5.00 per package.....to save 5.00 cdn dollars you are going to spend 20.00..........

Freedoms give very very good price.....and service!
