Well I have joined the ranks of the broke M14 owner today :p:rockOn:

Now the addiction begins as I find ways to make the rifle suite me better and scope her.

The most important question is what should I name her? And it is a her, I could tell when I took her out of the bag. She was all wet ready to go :p

Best Regards,
Tim

Ya only one..... So far!
Thanks to Joe at the polo range 2 weeks ago. He was shooting his norinco m14. We got chatting and he let me shoot it. That's the moment I knew I need one.
I picked it up from frontier. Its the new black stocked one.
Didn't figure anyone would want to see more pics of a stock m14 but ill get some up.

I need to pick up some goodies for her tho. Make her work for me better.
I hate the stock so I will het tha JAE stock.

Tim

The JAE stocks are badass.. but so heavy. You couldnt really do anything with the rifle but show it off at the range, IMO. The quality of those stocks are pretty awesome though. I am not sure if many people are getting MOA as low as .5 with the Norinco's though. I could be wrong.

As it sits now that kind of accuracy is not possible. But she will het a bunch of new goodies including a heavy match barrel of starters.

0.5 MOA ? Wow... that's a noble goal, but read my sticky(ies) and also those of Lazarus2000 because we really want you to save your money. Buy the JAE stock only if you are wearing safety gloves, I scraped the (soft) skin on my teacher hands along all those cheese grater rails!

If you really want to toss money and build a 0.5 MOA shooter then you shoulda bought a Savage 112 or FP10 or Tikka Tactical or Varmint Synthetic/Police. The chinese M14's are 1.25" to 1.5" at best with match bullet handloads.

I've built a pile of 0.75" MOA shooters with Douglas Hvy NM & Krieger barrels, but that's a pile of sheckels for a gas gun, when you can get a tight shooting bolt gun for lots cheaper. :D

Save your money and you can still enjoy that black stocked Poly M14... they really are good shooters right outta the box!

yea, the ones we're getting right now are as good as any of the usgi ones as far as accuracy goes, painting using a broad brush- i've got both and , while i produce dime to quarter sized groups at 100 yards, i'm still using standard configs and stocks- i really question the "value" of those new aluminum chassis - look cool factor sure, but does it really contribute to accuracy? i think that the national match guns and their brothers used in competition wrung every moa years ago- we're really playing the same tune with different notes
then there's all the other stuff- i've got a couple of compensators in my junk box that ACTUALLY DE-TUNED the rifle instead of enhancing it- just like the beretta folding stock- sure, it makes the rifle look like an m1 carbine on steroids, but a solid fiberglas or wood fits better and doesn't take time to deploy- just up and fire

I appreciate the opinions but when this rifle is done it will be shooting .5moa.
As for having a rig that does that. I have my remmy that does that now.
This is my new project gun and I'm going to ring as much out of it as I can.

I look forward to your posts outlining the modifications to the gun & the pics of your range trips showing the improvements to your group sizes as you continue to make modifications in the search for 0.5 MOA from your M14.

Cheers

I will start a buld thread for this one once i have it ready to go.
I will be documenting every item that is added to the rifle and see how it changed the rifle.
First few things will be more for ease of function and enjoyment.

I will be ordering a Sadlak extended mag release and SEI extended bolt release. As it site now these components could use improving so I figured this would be a good place to start.
I may also pick up a Sadlak Aluminum scope mount while I'm at it as getting a starting group off hand with the stock iron sights will not be a great representation of what the rifle can do.

With all said and done I'm estimating the cost of this build will be around $3500. This will be my first M14 but I think i feel another one coming on.

Are there any sources in Canada for the JAE stocks or is it best to get it directly?

Best Regards,
Tim
