Mail order question

Ok..this might be a dumb question, but here goes. Having never ordered anything by mail, never mind this SKS I just ordered, can anyone accept the package from the postman? When I ordered it, I told them I wanted to have it delivered to my dads house since he is always home and I am always at work. They then told me he would have to have a PAL to get it. Does the postman ask to see your PAL??? So because of this I had it sent to my apt., which I am assuming they will leave a note saying for me to go pick up the package at the post office, but chances are I will be gone hunting when it arrives. Do I need someone with a PAL to pick it up for me???? or can my dad just go get it???

They will just keave the package and maybe ask for a signature, that's it. The PO shouldn't even know what it is.

So I am guessing the reason S.I.R told me they needed a PAL number of the person receiving it other than me is to save their butt legally should anything happen ??? I kinda figured that the postman would have no idea what was in the box anyway. Thanks for the info, I'll feel better now if it arrives when I am gone knowing my old man can pick it up.

Last rifle I ordered from SIR was left on my NEIGHBOURS doorstep.
Despite what SIR does on their end, most Can Post employees don't
give a crap.

If the seller sends it to an address other than the address of the PAL holder, they could be delivering it to an unlicenced individual, or someone prohibited from owning a firearm. They don't know who is at the address.

I live in an apartment and I'm almost never home, so all my parcels end up at the post office. They've never asked me for my PAL when I pick up rifles, because they have no idea what's in the package. It's none of their business, quite frankly. As long as you're not trying to ship drugs or explosives, they don't care what's in the box, and that's the way it should be.

Well then, when I am sitting in my tree stand in another week and a bit huntin deer , and trying to solve world peace and how to feed all the hungry , at least I will not have to worry about my dad being able to pick up the rifle.

The two firearms i got from SIR (one was an sks) went to the post office, and I had to sign for them when i went to pick them up. they told me my dad couldnt accept them for me... wierd huh?

oh thats sucks to hear. I'm going to go to the post office tomorrow to ask how I can get someone else to pick up my package.
