By all means lubricate the firearm, however do not put any oil up the bore prior to shooting, also oil is detrimental to the wood stock in the long term.
NOTE: ALWAYS PATCH THE BORE PRIOR TO SHOOTING TO CLEAR OIL AND OTHER OBSTRUCTIONS.

and thank you all for your info, i have found my bolt guns run smoother with a drop of oil at the base of the bolt handle where it rubs against the stock/reciever. seing as im new to levers i was wondering about any simalar tricks![]()
