Majority of BIG game taken with..???

300 win mag is definitely the quantity winner followed by 270 win and the past few years I have been into 30-06 s but I've used a pile of calibers from 243- 416

1. 30-30
2. 270
Depending where I'm hunting and what kind of terrain determines which rifle gets the nod. Open field hunting gets the 270 but most hunts are in the bush amongst the trees and branches so that's where the 30-30 shines.

I like everyones story to go with their choice, but the question is so simple, which one do u use the most. lol

good thread though

Remington 700 ADL chambered for the 30-06. Harvested a little over 100 big game with this cartridge alone.

Ruger M77 MKII 308 Win
Voere Titan II 7mmSTW

in that order

those are the two rifles I own that have taken the most big game and account for probably 400 animals White Tail deer and larger. I have taken many game with other rifles but most have shot just one. I have this thing about making sure any rifle I own gets bloodied ASAP before it gets relegated to safe queen.

Think the vast majority of big game taken in Canada so far has been with a .303 British. With the diversity of cal's now available it might take many more years for a single cal to surpass the old .303.

If we include deer, then I have used slug shotguns (mostly Ithaca 37, H&R Ultra Slug and Savage 210) and muzzleloaders (Lyman Deerstalker .54 and Parker Hale .58) for the majority, but that was by necessity rather than choice...hunted mostly in Ontario shotgun zones until very recently.

For other big game, .300WinMag (Sako AV and Ruger 77), .375H&H (Sako AV, Ruger RSM and Blaser R93) and of course .45-70 (lots of different ones)...just 'cause I like 'em.

Most all deer with a 30-06 BAR (1969) Most all moose with a .300 Win Mag in a Weatherby Vangard. Few Deer and Moose with the .270 win, .308 win and the 7mm-08

Remy 700 BDL SS chambered in the mighty .270 Winchester...In fact I have only killed a few animals with anything else; a remy 700 .223 for some wolves and a wolverine; a steyr prohunter SS .300 win mag for a Walrus and a CZ 550 in .375 H&H (aka the true king;):p:D) for my grizzly.
