Well I took out my new to me Baikal Mak out today in 9X18, man this thing shoots like a laser and fun little pistol. Was shooting the 95gr SB from TradeEx. I don't reload yet for it but I have to tell you that patrolling the ejected brass for this thing is like trying to roundup a couple of unruly 2 years olds lol! The gun kicks em out 15-20 feet back and to the right. Anyone ever have luck taming down the ejection or this the nature of the beast?

Mine is one of the most accurate pistols I have... I love the little thing!

yes, they spit brass a looooong way. Not sure if it's part of the blowback operation or not. All my ammo is that norinco steel case you used to be able to get cheap, so I just use a magnet to pick it up and chuck.

Have fun!

Yeah out of 50 I managed to get 47 so I figure the 3 were offered up to the reloading gods :)

Nice, I suddenly want to reload a new caliber...

Hopefully you 'll be able to keep your reloaded empties closer.

I don't reload 9x18 yet - I don't think I go through enough of it to bother. I can say, though, that it's a real pain sorting brass if I go to the range with 380, 9mm, and 9x18.

I have one it is an amazing pistol, very accurate and even got the Spetznaz autoload hoster for it. The ammo is ex#####ive as hell but the. heapest I saw it was Canada Ammo. Reloading is alot cheaper then buying the rounds. You can get the brass from rusty woods trading

Cool thanks, was considering trimming some 9x19 cases as well.

You can make x18 brass from any x19 cases. Just trim them to length. Don't resize them after para pistols firing, just trim and flare to. 364 diameter.
My friend marks his brass with bright color feltpen so when cases fired you can see them on the ground right away and distinguishe them from all others.

Great tips, i assume he resizes after firing from the Mak?

My Bulgarian Makarov is crazy accurate for such a small gun. Seems to be pretty standard trait for them.

Eventually I may need to use some of the reloading tricks, but I have a case and a half of Norinco stuff to use up luckily.

Cool little gun.

I feel your pain with the brass. When I shoot .357 SIG it throws the slide backward so violently that it's almost as if the brass is doing its best to make sure it never sees the gun again. It sounds like you can at least make your own brass from easy to find 9x19 cases.

I have an East German model. It is my favorite handgun. It is very accurate! I re-profile 9X19 cases (cut the brass to 18mm and run through 9mm Mak loading dies) and cast bullets with a Lee mold.

There are a couple of the FEG M63s for sale on EE. They have an aluminium frame and feel more snappy in the hand, because they are lighter than the steel version.

The Mak inspires confidence. The kind of gun you can trust.
