Well the reason for the rather high price of the rebarreled Maks is the cost of swapping the barrel. Why would it be unreasonable to share my opinion that $650 is too high? I bet you've never handled a Makarov. I doubt you'd consider $650 fair for one if you had.

I have in fact handled and fired one......

I will never ever own one, regardless of barrel length, Well never is a strong word...... But I wouldn't pay actual money for one......

I was just saying how everyone was "I wish someone would bring them in" and then we get a dealer to offer to do so if interest is there, and you are willing to pay x amount of dollars (as a $100 gun with a $400 barrel plus paper work and a export fees plus a 10% margin = x) and everyone who wants one goes "That's too much!!"

I was just saying it's no wonder this kind of thing never happens. If the pistol is $300 on gunbroker and you have to have it re-barreled for restricted length IT WILL COST MORE THAN THE GUN IS WORTH!!! IMHO.
 
He is offering new production guns with restricted length barrels. Different ballgame when compared with rebarreled prohibs. I understand the point you are trying to make though.
 
Around $500 is nice but unfortunately unreal number...Russian manufacturer who produces thousands of guns per year, is not very interested in changing the process to make few guns that would comply with Canadian gun law. Beside changing manufacturing process it would also involve certification of the "Canadian" model within Russian authorities before it can be exported. Seriously, how many do you think we need to consume to make it even slightly attractive for the factory? How many do you think we need to order to bring the price down?
 
Has anyone seen the Baikal Makarov BB gun, the one made from real Makarov parts? Is it legal in Canada? Unrestricted, cheap to shoot, and the high-cap .380 mags fit the mag well... and lock open the action.
 
A .380 restricted Russian made Mak for 650? I'm in, but only if it's not commercial model marked - it should externally look military, except of course in a calibre we can actually buy in Canada ;)

TeaPot said it would be in 9x18 Mak... You would have to get it re-barreled here for 380ACP.
 
Lots of Mak brass around. Even Starline makes the stuff.

Lee Precision has a nice double-cavity .365 mould, too.

No reason to convert to .380: it's a big step downhill.
