Makasi Canada Non Restrcited Rifle: A machinist tear down PIC HEAVY

You would probably agree with me today that the Kodiak WK180 was the best rifle ever made.

"Just needs some love"

Uhhhh, No. The WK180 was designed from the outset to be a <$1k utility rifle for the masses. As such, it cut as many corners as possible in terms of machining, parts cost, and materials selection. The WK180 in no way compares to the Makasi in terms of the comparative quality of their construction and post-break in performance.

I've been heavily involved in firearms ranging from the Ross rifle to the C8 FTHB for the past 43 years. I spent 34 of those years carrying the C7, C8 and C9 as a professional infantry soldier. I am sufficiently experienced with the various service small arms operating systems such that I am usually able to accurately diagnose problems in a timely and efficient manner. I am fortunate to own multiple different examples of each modern, self-loading operating system, including Internal Piston, Long-Stroke Piston, Short-Stroke Piston and Inertia (shotguns). All of the above to say that I can usually pick a winner (Makasi) while readily recognizing a dog (WK-180). The Makasi doesn't need anything more than a break-in period to run reliably. Not a big deal, for the reasons that others have already stated.

So ,what do all us non expert firearms owners do? Are we sh!t outta luck

Clean it from the factory, lube it excessively, and then shoot 250 rounds before getting too worried about anything. Break in periods are normal, whether we like it or not, particularly from small boutique manufacturers.

I wouldn't use literally anything to try to accelerate the break in period. I have been known to turn the rifle upside down, hold the magazine release in, and autisticly/aggressively insert and remove steel magazine into the lower about 500 times. That and running the action about 1000 times.

Everything should sort itself out, and if it doesn't, at least you can warranty parts that you can't buy to replace yourself.

I’ve pretty much owned them all , built from receivers (mostly) .
3 stag 10 receivers only
2 MH complete rifles
3 MV. Receivers only
1 Chrypto complete rifle
1 Raven complete rifle and one receiver set
1 Jard Junk .

The only one I had any issues with and no amount of tinkering would fix that Fuc ker was the Jard .
I’m buying the Makasi water buffalo because it’s the only thing that interests me right now.
I’m sure I can overcome the issues.
