Thank you!Last picture for a bit. I need to get back to work so I can go shoot this thing. My curiosity is satisfied. Piston hole measured with gauge pins. 0.251 pin fit slide with some resistance. Gas piston is 0.242 diameter. All dimensions are very close aproximates. I did some rounding as my quick and dirty probing set up wasn't super perfect.

Bolt bounce can be a big problem.Bolt bounce is going to be the biggest issue with this rifle.

Right, you are correct. That would also explain why I had zero feeding issues.M4 feed ramp with non m4 cut receiver is fine. That was settled many years ago. The reverse is no good though
bath it in oil!!!!!Slightly off topic, 15” version was ordered, any tips as to where I must lubricate and where not? First fun gun.
That sounds like the bolt bounce. If it continues ......Got 3 light primer strikes in the first 10 rounds. I consider that break in period.

Someone beat me to it, but as the rifle breaks in there will be less drag on the bolt carrier, which will cause it to hit the back end of the barrel a little bit harder, resulting in more bounce....... What? What do you expect to happen aside from the issue resolving itself as the rifle "breaks in"?
The AR15 has moving buffer weights for a reason. Those are anti-bounce weights.Once the bolt turns and locks in it shouldn’t “bounce back out” unless I’m not quite understanding something here?
Yes it does. Thank you.I suppose I should have stated it another way. Makasi owners experiencing light primer strikes during early break-in, presumably arising from "bolt-bounce", have found that the incidence of light-strikes resolves itself in short order. The result once consistent Bolt-Catch engagement on an empty Magazine has been achieved, is typically 100% reliability thereafter. So, bolt-bounce doesn't appear to be the actual culprit behind the light strikes, because bolt-bounce wouldn't be expected to resolve itself, Right? Now, does THAT make better sense?
Showing a video of a Bolt & Carrier slamming home on an empty chamber and crowing about the resultant "bolt-bounce" is dishonest in the extreme. Every single rotary-bolt semi-auto that I own exhibits bolt-bounce on an empty chamber!!
I took a slow motion video of my bolt bounce with an empty mag inserted (before firing anything). It was considerably less severe than the other user's video of a completely empty rifle, but still looked concerning to me, hence my comment. On a loaded magazine, pushing a cartridge, I'm sure it would be even less. I'll maybe get a video at the next range trip.
Light primer strikes stopped after the first 50 rounds. Rifle functioned fine. Bolt bounce doesn't seem to be an issue. Total light strikes sits at 4 in the first 100 rounds.
Correct. The amount it was reduced just from pushing on a mag follower was a lot compared to the other thread. I thought I had some 5.56 snap caps to try but I can't find them.Your incidence of bolt-bounce WILL be considerably less (or non-existant) when pushing a cartridge under spring tension out from under the magazine lips and into the Chamber. Simple physics dictate that this will be the case.
There does seem to be some fairly serious problems with the platform. Perhaps not your particular example, but that isn't to say all the rifles are fine. They aren't.Correct. People need to just shoot their guns. Stop nitpicking through trying to find any tiny problem before it's actually a problem. Time will tell ultimately. I was thinking this would be the lesser of the two new NR rifles. I'm reconsidering that viewpoint.
As an aside, I'm seeing a lot of the usual gun owner (and internet in general) stuff going on with this rifle. The less experienced users are the most vocal reviewers.
