I'd like to offer a non-lawyer opinion on this matter...

This cannot be considered an "automatic firearm" due to the way it is defined in the Criminal Code:

“automatic firearm” means a firearm that is capable of, or assembled or designed and manufactured with the capability of, discharging projectiles in rapid succession during one pressure of the trigger;

"Succession" is defined as a number of persons or things following one another in order or sequence. Since all .22 rounds would be discharged simultaneously in this device it does not meet the CC definition of an automatic firearm, and therefore should be legal.

Additionally this device should not be considered a firearm as it is designed to be used only within a firearm, which makes it a part. If it were considered a firearm it would have OAL and barrel length restrictions, require a serial number, etc.

One might not expect the RCMP to apply this logic in their determination however.

it is impossible that the 22lrs will be discharged simultaneously, one will be fired before another even by a very minuscule amount of time even if struct simultaneously due to very small differences in case, powder, assembly, etc. therefore succession.

Knob Creek you say! Can you tell us a little about the experience please! I have always wanted to go, wet my appetite!

Yessir lol, not to hijack, but it was awesome. The exibitors had some great stuff. There were 2 mini guns even. Every hour on the hour the siege cannon would signal the start of the shoot, and go for 10 mins or so. Saturday night shoot was insane. Explosions, tracers etc lasted half an hour or so. Rented a crank AK, M60 and HK51 fire monster, and went for a ride in a Vietnam vintage Huey. If you're thinking about, just do it!!
