So here is the idea. Dlask has made a 25 rounder mag that will fit their receiver but not eom 10/22 ones. Basically their mag has an added lip that indexes with a cut out in the receiver.

IFFF we took lets say a butler creek 25 rounder and jb welded or plastic welded the same lip on them. Would this become a legal 25 round mag to use with a matching receiver. You can't fit it in the charger pistol so ???

This is just an idea, don't go full retard in your answers.

They fit in my Tuf22 and in no 10/22 or Charger on earth.

On the other hand 30 round center fire mags are "originally designed" for 30 but are legal when plugged to 5 rounds.

Common sense would say modding the mag as pictured above should be legal. I don't see how they could argue otherwise.

Doesn't mean it would be legal, but should be.

Interesting point.

Not legal. Those magazines were designed for use in the 10/22, and the RCMP has determined that said magazines cannot exceed 10 rounds capacity. Modifying after the fact does not change the fact that they were designed to be used in the 10/22 platform.

geologist;

Good for you, I respect you taking a stand (no sarcasm intended).

I personally don't think gluing a nut on to the mag makes any legal difference, however we also know that the RCMP have already decided that they will not prosecute for simple possession of a 10/22 high capacity mag [Copy of internal memo Attached] So I expect you will probably be fine, but not because you glued a nut onto the front of the mag.

Consider this:
If modifying the magazine was the answer, why not just modify the Tuf-22 mag to fit a 10/22 (ie grind the tab off, since the mag was not designed or manufactured to fit a 10/22)?

Yup, JB Weld low tech.

just put patent pending on your post and you can present it in court if need be

anything can be made to fit or not fit depending on the he tools, time and expertise one has

the rcmp is goofy and should be able to answer questions and help out recreational shooters but they do not

oh and by the way

official notice to the rcmp trolls who get paid to watch this site

bugger off and leave me alone, I am right on this

If RCMP can say that (permanent) modification of a mag (limiting a mag to legal capacity is a different story) to fit a different firearm constitutes the remanufactur and makes that mag subject to the mag capacity permitted for that particular model, then in my mind what Geologist has done is taking the RCMP's words and shoved them right back at them, in a 2 can play that game mentality. While I also admire the stand, I also highly reccomend carrying legal defense insurance and checking with them where the may stand in this scenario.

good grief,....just weld or JB or add a Nut and go out shooting.

nobody is coming after Little Johny & his home crappy mag for a 22 plinkster.
