Hey all,
I have searched, and have found a few older threads, but mostly they are just filled with, Its a glock, you dont need parts :p

I am getting into competitive shooting, and even if for nothing more than a piece of mind, I want to assemble a basic spare parts kit.

So far I plan on ordering a few extra magazine springs, a couple followers, one of each pin, mostly incase I lose one, a new takedown lever, extra firing pin spring, trigger springs, recoil springs, guide rod (plastic type to stay in production)

Any other little bits I am leaving out that I could have on hand just in case?
its a Gen 2 17, fyi.

Thanks!

Glock doesn't make spare parts.

:)

It's always a good idea to be prepared.

Buy a spare gun then you can do a "New York" repair if you have a breakdown..... :)

lol see what I mean?

This weekend I had my black badge course, and was lucky to not have any equiptment failures, as the rest of my stuff was hours away back at home. If something had gone wrong, would have ended the day. Id rather spend $50 on extra parts that can sit in my bag then risk it when I actually get to go to shoots

I think you have it all covered. Springs are the most likely culprit and having a few spares is ideal. Good job thinking ahead.....then again, you'll probably never have to use them :)

Firing pin, extractor, firing pin spring cups, firing pin spacer, slide cover plate, extractor plunger spring and end bearing, trigger housing with extractor, firing pin safety spring, slide lock and slide lock spring. That should do it.

apparently just buy a second gun and strip the frame/slide ....Hell, better bring the frame and slide too cuz u never know :)

I have enough parts to build a whole other gun.

Bare minimum I would have 2 recoil springs and a spare extractor. In my view, those are the most likely to break, but would still be quite rare.

If thats not enough for you, add a firing pin, firing pin spring, FP safety and spring and a spare pin kit

All I have is a spare recoil spring assembly and some trigger parts. I 'm not really worried about the extractor but I will be purchasing a slide lock spring soon and replace it when I swap out the RSA.

PS. I believe Glock recommends changing the recoil spring at 7500 rounds.

I used to buy parts for my M&P - but 5 years later I've never broken a part, so I've kind of quit. Now I just do maintenance when I notice a difference in how the gun handles (not often). I had an early Gen 1 Glock, that gun had a trigger return spring break (common problem), so I might have one of those somewhere just in case - but I wouldn't expect to ever use it.

- replace recoil spring assembly every 5 thousand rounds
- a spare slide stop lever (the spring will be the part that goes)
- 1 locking block pin - this is the only pin I have seen break
- if you want a spare locking block but likely you wont need it.
