Making a marine 870?

Since I've started sniffing around the idea of getting a shotgun I've knoticed the "marine 870's". I'm not talking about the nickel plated marine magnums but rather a heat shielded blued or phosphated militarty shotgun looking like this:

Pretty much the only time I've seen them in this configuration has been in the hands of US military guys.

From what I can tell this gun uses an 870 platform, with the same mag extension as the marine magnum, but also has a heat shield and front sight assembly.

I figure I can find the extension and the heat shield without too much of a problem, but where you would suggest looking for this front sight assembly? I've looked about a fair bit but so far no dice. Even a name or manufacturer for the front sight would help.
 
Alternatively, you could get a Mossberg 590...which has the bayonet lug already on there. The guy in the picture the first link takes you to looks very unsure of himself while handling that weapon.

The only thing on the market today that anything like that ,is made right hear in canada.

$150 for a mag extension and lug... cough cough cough... Ok, I suppose that's reasonable, but maybe my dream may have to go on backburner for a while.

I guess if I drafted up a design it wouldn't be too hard to get a front sight like that made though...

Cough, cough ... and how much will that cost. .. and will you be developing innovative Canadian made products to offer to our firearms community as BBB has to date?

Hey - I said I guessed it was reasonable. It's just that I also patch my bike tires so that I don't have to spend the extra money on a new tire, and I reuse a paper towel in a ziploc bag instead of having a lube rolling pad for lubing up ammo for reloading. I pick up pennies when I see them, $150 was more than I was expecting, that's all:p

Besides, I've got an interesting idea for a repro marine front sight I came up with this morning. He can have that free of charge if it means he'll start making them!
 
well one of the reasons its higth is that the bayomount, mag tube nut and end cap is cnc milled for 4041 steel, no stamped sheet metal.
The market for cheap gunparts is filled, we only want to make and market the good stuff.
The S&J hardware items are bet your life on it kinda kit!
Wait intill you see all the things we are working on this year for 2009!!!!
As a note , look on line for one of the factory bayo mount kits, if you see one for under $250 your lucky.

Did a search and found out that in 1969, Remington made 3,231 Model 870 Mk1 military shotguns for the Marine Corp. So if a Marine corp bayonet attachment is expensive it is because they didn't make a heck of a lot of them and they are all probably being used someplace in the world.
